A child’s jacket, made from felt maps of the continents of the world, hangs on a wooden
branch. From its sleeves, maps fall towards the floor and then up to the opposite end of the branch. A small clay bird surveys the scene. The gesture of the empty jacket suggests stasis, a pause in a transit, destination unknown. The one to one scale of the jacket, is juxtaposed to the micro scale of the cascading maps, as if seen from a great distance.
Shown in “Murmuration” curated by Elizabeth Schoyer, 2023, at the University of Virginia.
