Artist Fred Wilson included "Filament/Firmament" in his curatorial selection of the top Public Art projects in the United States completed in 2009. Artist Helen Lessick shared the podium and each artist presented 20 projects each at the Public Art Network conference on June 24.
Gregory Sale and Ellen Driscoll presented "Unhinged", a panel discussion on creating optimum conditions for enhancing artistic creativity in the public realm, with Lajos Heder and Norie Sato moderating.

A floating sculpture, 20' x 13' x 3', made from recycled plastic with assistants Xiaowen Wu and Sarah Ditmars, is part of the group exhibition "Agriculture Encounters Sculpture" curated by Allison Newsome from Sept. 2-Oct. 21.

Filament/Firmament, a public art work commissioned by the Cambridge Arts Council, is open to the public in November 2009 as part of the renovation of the Cambridge Public Library by William Rawn Associates and Ann Beha Architects.
On the Op-Ed page of the New York Times, there is a photo of one of Ellen Driscoll's sculptures, which is used as an illustration.
